About Us ~ David Hunter

David Hunter | Keith Clark | Ken Stein

David Hunter, M.D., F.A.C.S., has been in practice in Oklahoma City for the past 24 years. Dr. Hunter received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where he continued on for post-graduate surgical training. He then received three years of specialized training in otorhinolaryngology at the Universities of Oklahoma and Alabama. Dr. Hunter also completed a fellowship in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery in Beverly Hills, California.

Dr. Hunter is board certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS). To achieve certification by the ABFPRS, physicians must meet exceedingly high standards through a rigorous program of examinations and certification.

In fact, Dr. Hunter is the only board certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Oklahoma City!

Dr. Hunter has been Chief of Otolaryngology, Chief of Surgery, and Chief of Staff at St. Anthony’s. Dr. Hunter is an active national member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and has served on several national committees through this organization.

Dr. Hunter’s areas of expertise include:

  • Otolaryngology
  • General ENT (ear, nose & throat) Surgery
  • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for Facial Trauma
  • Skull Base Surgery
  • Facial Cosmetic Surgery
  • Facial Liposuction

Dr. Hunter’s professional affiliations include:

  • Member, the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery
  • Member, the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons
  • Member, the American College of Surgeons
  • Member, the American Medical Association
  • Member, the Oklahoma State Medical Association

Dr. Hunter continues to seek out new challenges and innovations in his field. For example, Dr. Hunter and two other surgeons performed a complex, innovative surgical procedure to remove a large tumor from behind a patient’s eye. This procedure allowed them to not only remove the tumor but also preserve the eye, something not possible with conventional surgical techniques. Dr. Hunter and his colleagues have now established a joint skull base surgical team to tackle similar problems.

In February of 2005, Dr. Hunter, along with Dr. Clark, received training in the use of innovative new treatments for diseases of the salivary glands and ducts. These procedures are minimally invasive and no incisions are required. At present, Drs. Hunter and Clark will be the only physicians in Oklahoma qualified to perform these procedures.
